Disasters present unique challenges to the healthcare system. Hospitals can be pushed beyond their limits. Without proper preparation, the system can collapse. Nurses must use their knowledge and experience as a foundation to provide patient care during challenging situations. In this presentation, the participant will learn how nursing care during disasters differs from conventional daily care. Response to previous disasters will be used as a framework for learning.
