What You Will Do

Respond to victims of crime, including sexual assault, throughout Child Advocacy Centers covered by the St. Peter’s Health Partners Forensic Nursing Program.

The Clinical CAC Nurse is responsible for the clinical coordination of pediatric care across multiple Child Advocacy Centers. This includes maintaining medical supplies and equipment at all designated CAC facilities, ensuring appropriate coverage for pediatric forensic exams, and supporting multidisciplinary teams through regular meeting participation (monthly Multidisciplinary Team and Quarterly Child Fatality Meetings)

This position will provide coverage in the Capital Region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence collection and medico-legal examinations of crime victims when on call
  • Required to provide testimony if subpoenaed
  • Communicates with medical team, law enforcement and victims; advocating before, during, and after the exam as needed
  • Provides individualized care to each victim adhering to confidentiality and privacy
  • Functions as a mandated reporter
  • Have Availability to cover pediatric examinations as needed

What You Will Need

  • Current RN License in State of New York
  • 3 Years RN Experience with 1 year experience caring for pediatric sexual assault patients independently
  • BLS certification
  • NYSAFE Certification
  • SANE-P Recommended
  • Fast Critical Thinking skills
  • Communication/Bedside Manner skills
  • Good Assessment skills
  • A minimum of one year providing specialized care to sexual assault and other crime victim patients; two or more preferred.
  • Ability to practice independently and autonomously, and to plan and organize workload.
  • Active NYS Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.
  • Willingness and ability to precept new nurses and trainees in our SAFECARE-NY Program.

Pay Range: $40.00-53.10hr

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
